How To: Removing Your Box Braids

Posted on August 13, 2020 by N. Turner

So you got your box braids done— they were cute, lasted 8 weeks and now you want to remove them. What happens now? Well it is relatively easy to remove your box braids, but you need to use the proper technique to ensure your actual hair is damage free, intact and healthy!

The tools you need to remove your box braids easily and pain free are a comb, scissors and your fingers, that’s it! Below is a video that shows you exactly what you need to do and the proper after care you should be giving your hair after being in box braids for so long.

After removing, make sure to wash your hair and apply some form of hair repair treatment. Because your hair has been in braids for so long, you will want to make sure you give it lots of love! You can deep condition it, apply a hot oil treatment with castor oil, or any moisturizer of your choice.
